An assymetric cranked lever (7) is incorporated in the transmission system of a power actuated gate (3), pivoting about a fixed vertical axis (6) through the angle, the being connected to a motor (10) and the gate by its respective free ends (8, 12). The gate coupling is made by a pin-jointed connecting rod which extends between the gate and the long leg of the lever, the lever to rod connection, thus, constituting a knuckle joint. The latter joint may be nominally offset from the longitudinal axies of the conjunctive members. The motor may comprise a two-way ram or electric motor-driven screwjack.
