摘要
Oily fluids are recovered from the surface of water by spreading fire particles of shredded expanded polystyrene on the surface to form an agglomerate with the fluid and then recoving the agglomerate. The recovered agglomerate is compressed to extract the crude oil and the residue burnt. Crude oil is removed and recovered from the surface of the sea in a simple and efficient process which is also applicable to beaches or reservoirs contg. curde oil. The polystyrene can be new or mfg. scrap. It is pref. shredded to particles of average size 2mm (spheres of expanded polystyrene being inefficient).
