The pre-stressed supporting structure has a base with supports and to which a pre-stressed compression member is fixed. Pre-stressed tension members such as tie rods are each fixed between the compression member and a tensioning mechanism. The latter (13) has a driving member (16) on the support (4), coupled between the latter and the base, and a driven member (17) sliding on the base on the opposite side to the driving member, and coupled between the tie rod (12) and the latter. Driving and driven members can be double-armed levers, coupled together by a bar (18).
