Economiser for steam generating plant - has banks of tubes to heat water and condense liquid from combustion gases

The economiser for a steam generation plant consists of a cylindrical vessel with an array of vertical tubes supported at their upper and lower ends in header plates. The combustion gases enter through the inlet and flow upwards through the tubes to the outlet duct. Water under pressure enters through a pipe and leaves by another pipe. A deflector fitted near the inlet deflects large flows downwards but has little effect on small flows. Any liquid condensed from the exhaust gases drips down the tubes to the base and passes out through the drain.
