Linearising frequency of signals supplied by geiger muller counter - eliminating errors difficult to correct in converting frequency to voltage to be display by digital system
An appts. for linearising the frequency of the signals supplied by a radiation detector, e.g. a Geiger Muller counter, in terms of the dose or dose rate of a radiation, e.g. a gamma radiation, comprises a frequency/frequency converter having a transfer function making a frequency fs = gammafe(1-deltafe) correspond to the frequency fe of the signals generated by the detector, gamma and delta being constants. The system eliminates the inconvenience caused by the non-linearity of the relation between the dose rate and the frequency of the pulses emitted by the detector when gamma radiations pass through it. This non linearity gives rise to large errors difficult to correct when a digital display of the dose or dose rate is required, e.g. in measuring the frequency by counting the pulses.
