Wagon for ceramic firing tunnel kiln - with ceramic fibre cloth layers sweeping kiln walls at chassis level to reduce thermal losses

Wagon for tunnel kiln for firing ceramics includes an insulating coating cloth of insulating fibres in which the fibres form a compression point between the wagon and the walls of the kiln. This is effected by using fibre cloth which is wider, at least locally than the width of the kiln tunnel at the level of the wagon without causing any constraint on the wagon itself. The total weight of the wagon itself plus insulation is much less than a wagon of prior art which was loaded with brick or insulating powder. Hence, it has a much smaller heat capacity. The contact between the insulating fibres and the walls reduces thermal losses at the level of the wagon since hot gas under pressure does not pass through the fibrous cloth layers to the same extent as through gaps necessary for relative movement in prior art.
