Extractor for removing nozzle brick from casting ladle - where extractor bar can withdraw nozzle brick while ladle is very hot

A long rod is fed through the nozzle brick from the base of the ladle, and a flanged bar is attached to the rod. When the rod is retracted out of the nozzle brick, the flange on bar butts against the top surface of the brick. The long rod is then removed, and the piston of a work cylinder is attached to bar so the nozzle brick can be extracted out of its seat. A quick-release coupling is pref. fitted on the opposite end of bar to the flange, so bar can be rapidly connected to, and removed from, the long rod. The nozzle brick can be removed and replaced without damaging its seat, and while the ladle is still very hot, so min. prodn. time is lost.
