Safety line for high level worker - arrests fall using line movement to lift roller in tapered tube and promote jamming effect

Used to secure an exposed high level operator to a safety line (L), the fitting provides an eyelet (8) on a line-guide with an automatic safety lock, allowing the operator to move about but arresting a fall. The line (L) oasses through a tapered metal tube locating a suspended roller (15), its rapid movement causing the roller (15) to rise and promote a wedging effect. Two walls (2) of the tube are parallel and the other two (4,5) extended subtent an angle of some 10 degrees, the roller axle (13) being located by identical 'L' shaped slot holes (11) in each of the former (2), and the roller (15) being suspended by a coil spring (16). During a fall the movement of the line (L) tends to lift (F3) and rotate (F2) the roller until the roller and the line jam between the inclined walls (4,5). A continuous slot in one parallel wall (2) may facilitate line insertion.
