The mixt. is made from a fine hydraulic binder based on calcium- silicate and -aluminate, e.g. white cement; a filler contg. cellulose powder, and pref. also silica; lime; CaCl2; a latex; and water. The silica pref. has a particle size of max. 50 microns and a wt. equal to 30-200% of the wt. of the cellulose, which is pref. max. 250 microns in size. The latex is pref. of the acrylic type, or of natural or synthetic rubber; and its dry wt. is pref. 10-50% of the cellulose wt. The mixt. pref. also contains talc; and is used esp. to coat expanded polymer substrates, esp. to make panels for thermal insulation. The mixt. has adequate solidity and hardness, with good adhesion to substrates.
