The grass is cut by two cutting elements, one fixed and the other moving relative to it. The lower fixed element (71) is in the form of a straight bar, provided with cutter teeth (72) which are raised above the level of the rear surface. The upper element is a vee belt (35), running over pulleys. This belt is provided with cutter teeth (50) which have an elongated airfoil shape. The lower pointed edge (51) cooperates with the teeth on the fixed bar and the angle of the teeth provides an air flow (55) to evacuate the cuttings.
