Special effects system for developing cine film - creates sabatier effect of image reversal on photosensitive film using compound light source

The process for creating the Sabatier effect image on a photosensitive film includes the use of a compound light source. A white light source (1) is surrounded by a shield (1a) having three slots in it. These allow three beams of light to pass through heat filters (2), condenser lenses (3) and precise colour filters (4,5,6) which are red green and blue respectively. The separate optical systems include neutral equalising filters (7) and remotely controlled shutters (8,9) with servomotors (10). Mirrors (11) are placed at the end of each optical system (A,B,C) to direct the light produced on to the sensitive film. The effects produced in development may be used in documentary films, to achieve particular artistic effects or emphasise particular moments, or to achieve spectacular shock effects.
