The cooking utensil such as casserole incorporates an airtight seal and support for the lid. The main part of the casserole has a top with a first outward-curved bend (2) followed by a cylindrical part (3). An extension of the cylindrical part has a second outward-curved bend (4). A final, third bend (6) ends in a rim (7). The second bend forms a support surface for the lid which has a peripheral shoulder (9) to match, as well as, pref. a cylindrical part (10) resting against the cylindrical part of the pot.
