A device for supporting the core in the vessel of a nuclear reactor, more partic. a fast neutron reactor cooled by liq. sodium with integrated prim. exchangers in the vessel in which the core is carried by a self-supporting circular structure, is realised by the wall of the vessel being formed in the supporting zone as an annular thin shell structure of triangular section. One side of the structure constitutes an element of the base wall of the vessel. The annular internal projection thus formed is used as a bearing for the circular structure supporting the core. The device allows a better distribution of the stresses than existing devices. The supporting structures are simpler and lighter.
