The installation comprises one or more solar heating panels connected into a heat storage tank. This latter is also connected into a back-up tank, fitted with a normal heating element. The outlet from this back-up tank passes into the radiators, flow being controlled by thermostatic valves. The outlets form the return flow to the storage tank. The water first passes through a fan-assisted heat exchanger, to warm incoming air. The extra heat extracted increases the temperature gradient of the water and improves the heat input of the solar panels.
