Friction chain variable ration chain and pulley drive - uses link of thin cross plate notched centrally into link plates connected by axles

The trapezoidal section chain is used on variable ratio friction chain and pulley drives, incorporating transverse laminar pieces (4)which are built onto each link (1). One contact piece is built onto each link and is sited centrally relative to the inter-link axle pins (2). The thickness of the piece is approx. 1mm. The chain has a reduced pitch in the order of 6mm for enhanced power transmission. The contact length of the piece may be of the order of two or three times the chain pitch, and the contact piece may be of thin plate housed into notched plates (1a) from which the link is fabricated.
