Lightning protection for TV receivers - uses antenna cable mounted fusible link surrounded by electrodes connected to earthed screen of antenna cable

The device is inserted in the coaxial antenna lead linking the antenna to the input socket of the television receiver. A fusible link is connected in series with the central conductor of the antenna cable, and is surrounded by tapered electrodes which are spaced closely around it and are connected to the screen in the antenna cable. The antenna cable mounting is provided by a sleeve which accepts screw in end caps which clamp the cable in place. In the event of a lightning strike the arc created by the melting of the fusible link jumps to the electrodes and thus passes to earth.
