Compression shrinkage machine for textiles or paper - has controlled horizontal movement of belt guide rollers, and controlled vertical movement of driven pressure roller

Machine comprises an endless belt passing over front and back guide rollers and a third, driven pressure roller which drives the belt and causes the fabric or paper to shrink. The shrinkage is effected by the contraction of the pressure roller and the front guide roller. The three rollers are mounted in blocks on each side of the machine. The guide rollers for the belt may be displaced horizontally by screw control, and the driven, pressure roller may be displaced vertically by hydraulic pressure controlled by micrometric stops. The machine is open-sided for ease in belt changing, and a machine may be introduced for straightening twists in the belt. The horizontal movement of the guide rollers may crecreate a variable arc of contact and thus vary the force applied between the front guide roller and pressure roller. Improved control is achieved both of the compression, and of the finish produced. A particular shrinkage may be obtd. with lighter pressures than those obtd. by known machines of this type.
