Composition, obtained from an initial mixture containing at least an aromatic acid, an aromatic acid having at least one and pref. several phenolic OH groups and an aliphatic acid - alcohol (pref. 3-6C), in which at least one of these substances is at least partially O-substd. (phenolate, alcoholate or pref. carboxylate) by a physiologically acceptable metal, to give a compsn. having an X-ray spectra of the same type as that of a carbonate of the metal, formed in situ by reaction of the initial constituents of the mixt. Pref. the compsn. is formed from an initial mixt. contg. at least benzoic acid, gallic acid, butyric acid or pref. lactic acid and at least one of these substances is at least partially in the form of a carboxylate with the metal. The pref. physiological metal is an alkaline-earth metal, esp. strontium. Treatment of benign or malignant tumours and dermatological troubles, such as psoriasis or eczema. The treatment gives remissions, if not total cure, without very serious side-effects. As well as stopping the development of tumours and metastases, the compsn. has an important analgesic effect and for patients being treated by radiotherapy gives an important radioprotecting effect.
