Fire-resistant heat conducting compsn. - contg. polyethylene, chlorinated polyethylene and conductive filler, giving good mechanical properties

A plastic fire-resistant compsn. with high heat conductivity and good mechanical resistance consists of (a) a mixt. of (i) high density polyethylene and (ii) chlorinated polyethylene, and (b) not less than 50 wt.%, w.r.t. (a), of a conductive filler. (a) (ii) The amt. is esp. 20-60 (30-40) wt.%, w.r.t. (a). (b) Fillers include C black, C fibres, and graphite powder. (c) The compsn. pref. contains an antioxidant, esp. a mixt. of alkylpolyphenols and thiodipropionates. The amt. is 2000-2500 ppm, w.r.t. (a). (d) The compsn. pref. also contains an agent for coupling the filler to the polymer matrix esp. an organic titanate. The amt. is 0.5-2 wt.%, w.r.t. (a). The compsn. has better fire-resistance and better mechanical properties than a compsn. contg. high density polyethylene and an ethylene-propylene copolymer (FR 7916375). The compsn. is used in air convection heat exchangers for rooms, in solar collectors, and for encapsulation of materials for heat storage.
