Polystyrene studs for supporting superficial insulation panels - with an integral platform to maintain an internal air gap for extra insulation

External wall insulation comprising slabs of expanded polystyrene reinforced with glass fabric and coated with e.g. plaster is mounted on to the supporting structure by dowels having an intermediate annular land to hold the interior face of the supported slabs clear of the wall surface to maintain an internal air gap for thermal and acoustic insulation. Pref. the dowel is made of polystyrene and the outer head incorporates protruding wire clips which may be bent to penetrate and secure the fabric layer covering the outside of the insulating slabs.
