Fan with inherent sound insulation - has casing made of sound absorbing plastics with impeller on metal plate cast into casing

The fan has a casing (1) which is cast in a rigid sound absorbing plastics material. It is formed internally as a volute housing with an open side. A metal plate (3) is cast in to close the open side. An electric motor (2) is mounted on the metal plate with its shaft extended through the plate. The fan impeller (4) is mounted on the shaft extension inside the casing. The casing has an inlet opening on the other side and an inlet silencer (5) is bolted onto this. The construction is inherently sound and vibration absorbing independently of isolating connections to supporting structures and ducting.
