The multi-purpose surgical instrument comprises a fixed arm (1) with an oblong stem (2), at the end of which is a two-jaw grip (5). Movement of one of the jaws (5') is controlled by a movable arm (3) on a hinge pin (4). Fixed to the stem are devices for evacuation by suction of liquids or solids of small volume and of gases or fumes; and for instantaneous coagulation of blood. Evacuation can be by a capillary tube (6) secured to the stem, one end (9) of it being near the grip, while the other has a union (8) for connection to a vacuum source. Coagulation can be effected by a metal boss (7) fixed to the curved fixed arm and connected to an electrical discharge generator.
