Wave energy conversion system for transfer to land based station - has floating flexible membrane for transferring wave motion to hydraulic piston and cylinder beneath surface of sea

The wave energy machine consists of a flexible membrane (10) which carries a series of hexagonal plates (11), both components being made of plastic or synthetic rubber, and joined to one another by welding. Each hexagonal plate (11) is reinforced by four cushion type discs made of glass fibre reinforced plastic, with a central point (13) in the hexagon, through which a non- extensible cable (17) passes. The upper membrane (10) has an air filled, tube shaped edging and floats on the surface of the sea, while below it is suspended a second membrane (15) of similar shape. This lower membrane carries a drive generator (16) e.g. hydraulic piston and cylinder, which is anchored to the sea bed (20) by further connections (19) which can be elastic. The wave motion this imparts energy to the generator systems which can be transferred to a land based power station.
