Heat recovery system for engine - has heat pump operated by engine to convert heat in cooling water

The fuel economiser is fitted to an engine with adequate insulation, heat exchangers in the exhaust and a lubrication system in series with the cooling system. The cooling liquid conveys heat contained in the burnt fuel which may be discharged to a domestic water service. The heat may further be converted in a heat pump, with the engine driving the compressor in the heat pump circuit. The heat recovered is partially returned to the pump heating circuit upstream of a condenser. This aids the pump action and reduces the operating temperature of the condenser.
