Regulator for heating installation - has working fluid thermostat automatically altered by room thermostat via two position switch supplying bidirectional electric motor

Particularly in heating installations using a heat pump inefficiencies occur when the working fluid reaches unnecessarily high temperatures while the fluid circulation has been cut off by the room thermostats. The working fluid is heated by a heat pump (1) and is stored in a tank (3) supplying (2) the room radiators. A bimetallic strip thermostat (4) regulates the fluid temp. in the tank (3) by operating a contact (9) supplying a relay coil (10) and it also rotates a shaft (7). The room thermostat (15) is able to modify the operation of the working fluid thermostat (4) by closing contacts (23) supplying a bi-directional low speed (2rev/hr) electric motor (21) which rotates to alter the setting of the working fluid thermostat. A circular cam (27) with a raised segment (28) occupying about 90 degrees of its circumference limits the rotation of the shaft (7) driven by the motor (21) and hence the range of setting of the fluid thermostat.
