Heat and sound insulation material for buildings etc. - prepd. by mixing aq. suspension of lime or magnesia with waste aluminium sulphate or iron sulphate

The material is first made in a liq. phase by the mixing of two principal cpds. (I,II). Cpd (I) is pref. aluminium sulphate or iron sulphate, both of which are industrial by-prods.; whereas cpd. (II) is pref. unslaked lime or magnesia, Ca(OH)2, or Mg(OH)2. The mixt. may be directly used in the liq. phase when the excess water in the mixt. will be automatically evaporated by the temp. of the object to the insulated. Alternatively, cpds. (I,II) are mixed in water, and the mixt. is then filtered, the residue being dried and heated in a stove prior to use. Other materials may be added to the mixt. to improve its insulating properties. Cpds. (I) are readily available, and are inexpensive.
