The solar energy recording and counting device includes a photocell (1) receiving direct and diffused solar radiation. The cell is connected to a resistor (2) offering a relatively small resistance. The current produced by the cell flows through the resistor and consequently creates a voltage across its terminals. This voltage is in turn applied to a series circuit comprising a further resistor (4) and an electrolytic counter (3) having a soluble anode. The second resistor determines the operating range of the energy counter. The device is read using a scale graduated in kWh per squared metre placed along side the electrolytic counter. The capillary of the counter may then be correlated with this calibrated scale. The device may cover ranges up to 50,000 kWh per square metre simply by changing the value of the second resistor.
