The window in contact with the film and making the margin screen is over ruled or modified so as to obtain lighting of the whole film width. This is done by printing over the side margins of the image. The cross margins separating successive pictures are also reduced to a single line. The process is particularly applicable to industrial and scientific use, where perforations do not have to be masked. The normal window is discarded and replaced by one giving the results above.
