Line protection breaker with automatic trip indicator - uses cranked arm operated by automatic trip mechanism to raise lever under operating lever and close contacts

The system gives a display indicating that it is opened only after an automatic trip due to overvoltage or overcurrent on the line. Under manual operation a switch lever (3) pivoted on a pin (2), has an operating rod (1) connected to it. The operating rod has a cupped end (1a) which pushes a lever (4) with a slotted pivot hole (4a) against a fixed contact (7) closing the electric circuit. Manual opening of the circuit moves the operating rod away from the lever which then opens the circuit under spring (6) force. The push rod slides along the top of a cranked arm (8) which is in its lower position. When a fault occurs the cranked arm is moved round its pivot (9) so that it pushes the operating rod (1) clear of the contact lever (4), allowing the spring (6) to move the contact lever and open the contacts. A spring attached to the operating lever (3) draws the operating rod along the top of the cranked arm, now in its high position, so the operating rod closes contacts (11,12) placed above its path. These contacts activate a signalling device.
