Roof mounted solar air heater - is built from standard roofing panels with added reflective layer and spaced cover

The solar air heater is developed from a standard roof component which consists of a base (1) overlaid with a vapour barrier (2) and a layer of insulation (4). The panels have timber side and intermediate supports (3). Onto this assembly is added a reflective film (5) of aluminium foil and support strips (6). An absorber panel is mounted on the support strips with a rubber side seal (8). The glazing is fixed and sealed onto the channels fixed to the timber support. Air is ducted (21) into the space between the absorber (7) and the reflective film and the insulation.
