Video colour camera for cinematographic film recording system - uses lasers fed from magnetic read instruction tapes to expose film

The video colour camera providing a cinematographic film output from magnetic tape recordings of the three basic colours and a separate brightness recording. Incoming light to the camera (30) is split into four beams three feeding red, blue and green image analysers, typically VIDICON (RTM) tubes and the fourth a further green tube for brightness data. The latter tube output is vertically displaced by half a line, all the outputs feeding a switching and mixing circuit (40). This is also fed by special effects, titleing data etc from a separate source (45). The switched outputs are recorded on separate magnetic tapes (51-54) with associated read instruction tapes (55-58). These then control a laser group exposing the film according to instructions from a control unit. The camera provides an image of higher quality than that of orthodox TV cameras.
