Controllable displacement tool positioning appts. - uses continuous measurement and memory to compare stored data with measurement signals and provide regulation via relay
The controller uses a hydraulic actuator (1) controlled by a solenoid valve (19) to position a machine element. The required position sequence is entered by the operator using thumbwheel encoders (14) or by magnetic tapes. A digital to analogue converter (15) gives a voltage which is applied to one side of a summing and differentiation circuit (16) which compares the set signal against a signal (13) proportional to the actual displacement of the machine tool. The position measuring sensors (7) have a cursor (8) fixed to a slider (9) giving an alternating output voltage whose amplitude is proportional to the displacement of the cursor. The various measurement signals are digitised and multiplexed by the measuring circuit controller (7) and sent to a counter circuit (10) coupled to a display (11) and also to a de- multiplexer (12) before analogue to digital conversion (13) for application to the comparator (16) whose output signal controls the solenoid value.
