Method and apparatus for preparing fluids of accurately proportioned components

Apparatus for feeding a mixed fluid of accurately proportioned components comprises a closed receptacle A of fixed volume having an internal cavity divided into two chambers 2a, 3a separated by a stretchable rubber diaphragm 1a which can be displaced over the whole volume of the cavity. Two or more components for the fluid are introduced into the closed receptacle to fill it and the resultant fluid of the proportioned and mixed components are delivered from the receptacle. One or more of the components is introduced into the receptacle A through a line 22 in predetermined amounts, the sum of which is insufficient to fill the whole volume of the receptacle, before or whilst the other component is introduced into the receptacle through a line 21 and this other component is introduced into the receptacle in an amount sufficient to fill the remaining volume of the receptacle. The apparatus is suitable for preparing dialysate solutions for the use in dialysis. IMAGE
