Photodegradable polyolefin compns. contain =1 ppm Fe as the tetrachloroferrate anion FeCl4 complexed with an organic derivative. Examples of complexing cations are Fe (antipyrine)6 +++, Mg (antipyrine)6 ++, Zn (diethyl malonate)3 ++, Fe(diethylmalonate)3 ++, Fe-(dimethyl formamide)3 Cl2 +, pyramidon-H +, FeCl2(pyramidon)2 +, etc. The compsns may be used, e.g. for films and packaging.
