METHOD OF SLITTING BY ROLLS WITHOUT MAKING SHEARED BURR, AND SLITTING ROLL

PURPOSE:To accurately set a negative overlap on roll cutters, by bringing dummy cutters provided at both the ends of a pair of slitting rolls, into contact with each other to determine a zero point for setting the overlap and by using the zero point as a reference. CONSTITUTION:Dummy cutters 6, which have the same diameter as the cutters 4 of a pair of slitting rolls 1, 2 and are suitable to the arbors 3 of the rolls, are brought into contact with each other at both the ends of the shafts to determine a zero point for setting an overlap. The zero point is used as a reference so that the negative overlap for cutting-in depending on the thickness of a metal strip is set on the cutters 4 of the slitting rolls 1, 2. As a result, the metal strip can be cut off to plural pieces by the cutters 4 without making burr.
