PURPOSE:To enable the detection of the speed of a main shaft drive system which is little affected by the fluctuation in the rotation of a cutter shaft due to that in cutting, by connecting a pulse generator through a gear train to a motor which drives a cutter for intermittent cutting. CONSTITUTION:The rotation of a main shaft drive motor 17 is detected by a pulse generator 18 through a gear train 20. The operation of an electric motor or the like for driving a work table is controlled by the signal of the pulse generator 18. The rotation of the motor 17 is transmitted to a cutter 13 and a flywheel 15 through a gear train 16 for driving a cutter shaft 14. Since the pulse generator 18 is directly driven by the motor 17 and separated from the cutter shaft 14, the generator 18 can detect the rotation of the motor 17 almost without being affected by the fluctuation in the rotation of the cutter shaft 14 due to intermittent cutting.
