PURPOSE:To maintain the gap dimension between a brake shoe and brake drum by providing an adjust strut expandably interlocked to the excessive rotation of a brake cam between the base ends facing each other of the first and second brake shoes. CONSTITUTION:When a brake lining wears out and the gap between the said brake lining 6 and the braking face of a brake drum 4 becomes larger than the proper dimension, the rotating angle of a brake cam 7 gets larger to increase the expansion strokes of the first and second brake shoes 51 and 52 and an adjusting rod 28 pulls inward an adjusting lever 26 at the proximity of the brake cam 7 to rotate the adjusting lever 26 clockwise. A ratchet claw 26' engages with a ratchet tooth 23 of an adjusting wheel 14 rotating it to expand the first and second struts to the direction of a shaft.
