NOZZLE PROTECTING DEVICE IN PRODUCING DEVICE FOR AMORPHOUS ALLOY STRIP

PURPOSE:To prevent the oxidation corrosion of a nozzle tip and to produce an amorphous alloy strip of good quality continuously by providing a protecting enclosure wall which shuts off the atmospheric air cooperatively with the surface of a roll for quick cooling in the slit opening part of the nozzle. CONSTITUTION:A protecting enclosure wall 8 is inserted onto the outside of a nozzle body 2 in the bottom part of a molten metal vessel 1 in such a way that the slit opening part 4a of the nozzle 2 is put in a protecting atmosphere cooperatively with the surface of a roll 5 for quick cooling. an inert gas is supplied from a supply pipe 9 through the wall 8, and the part 4a is put in a protective atmosphere. Thereby, the flow of the air flowing along the surface of the roll 5 into the nozzle 2 position is regulated. Hence, the inclusion of the air into the flow of the molten metal ejected to the surface of the roll 5 through the nozzle 2 is obviated. The deposition of oxides in the part 4a is obviated and the longer life of the nozzle tip is obtained.
