PREPARATION OF MANGANESE DIOXIDE FOR ANODE IN ALKALINE MANGANESE BATTERY

摘要

PURPOSE:To flatten the discharge characteristic of an alkaline manganese battery by using for the anode a manganese dioxide which is subjected to microwave irradiation treatment. CONSTITUTION:An anode mixture 1 principally containing manganese dioxide is placed on the bottom of a case 5. A separator 3, a liquid-holding material 4, and a cathode mixture 2 made of zinc are placed over the mixture 1. After that, a sealing lid 6 is placed on the mixture 2, with a gasket 7 interposed between the case 5 and the lid 6, to make these three to be fixed to each other, thus an alkaline manganese battery is constituted. The manganese dioxide used for the anode is prepared by performing microwave irradiation on a usual one such as electrolytic manganese dioxide, chemical manganese dioxide or natural manganese dioxide of, preferably, gamma-type.
