PURPOSE:To obtain an apparatus for controlling driving at economical fuel cost, by monitoring the displacement of a control lever for a fuel jet pump and the rotational frequency, and permitting the control lever displacement to be automatically regulated to a suitable position if the control lever is operated too much to jet fuel to correspond to the rotational frequency of the engine. CONSTITUTION:The first detected signal from an engine rotational frequency detector 1 is inputted into a character converter 3, and based on this rotational frequency and the displacement of the control lever 6 of the jet pump 5, a signal VF is outputted which indicates a predetermined economical fuel cost operation boundary. This output signal VF and the second detected signal VL from a control lever detector 7 are compared in comparators 4, 15, and when the second detected signal VL is larger than the output signal VF indicating the predetermined economical fuel cost boundary, and the combustion state is incomplete, the control lever 6 is controlled by a regulating mechanism between an accelerator pedal 8 and the control lever 6 to decrease the amount of jet fuel.
