An electro-hydraulic control system for controlling a mineral mining installation employs a valve device 36 in the vicinity of the main pump supplying the pressure fluid. This valve device 36 is capable of creating a short circuit directly between the main fluid feed and return lines P, R to disable the entire installation. Emergency switches 44 are distributed along the working and are accessible to personnel.
