METHOD OF KNOWING MELTTDEPOSIT ZONE IN BLAST FURNACE

PURPOSE:To perform a blast furnace operation without degrading the circumferential balance of the melt-deposit zone by a method wherein temperature measuring devices are suspended over the burden level of a blast furnace which has been made a low burden-level blowing-down condition, and, while recovering the burden level, the measured value distribution is used to know the shape of the melt-deposit zone. CONSTITUTION:In the space over the lowered burden level of an blowing-down blast furnace, a heat and abrasion resistant, suspended protect material 5 containing a thermocouple 4 is hanged from the beam 3 of the blast top. The thermocouple 4 is connected, via the protect material 5 and beam 3, to a computer 7 and graphic CRTS8. Then, the operation is released from the low burden-level blowing-down condition, and is raised to the normal condition, recovering the burden level 1 to level 1'. At the same time, the electromotive force of the thermocouple 4 is started to measure. The measured value is converted by the computer 7 to temperature, and then CRTS8 is used to obtain two curves that connect the same temperature, respectively. In the figure, 1,000 deg.C shows the outer melt-deposit zone; 1,400 deg.C the inner melt-deposit zone. The curves are used to know the shape of the melt-deposite zone in operating of the furnace. If the circumferential balance is degraded, the operation immediately shifts to a low burden-level blowing-down condition.
