PURPOSE:To measure a liquid sample component in high accuracy, by successively laminating a hydrophilic colloidal layer containing a chemical reagent and a fibrous porous carrier layer permeating a component of the liquid sample to said layer on a light transmitting and liquid impermeable supporting body and make clarify said carrier layer. CONSTITUTION:A layer containing a chemical reagent in hydrophilic colloid (gelatine, etc.) is formed on a light transmitting and liqud impermeable supporting body made of cellulose acetate, polystyrene. An analysis element is obtained by forming a fibrous porous carrier layer such as a filter paper on said reagent layer. A liquid sample such as a blood serum is spotted on the carrier layer of the analysis element and a clarifying agent such as water, vegetable oil, paraffin, or silicone oil, is dropped so as to be piled up the sample spot at the same time of spotting or after spotting. Coloring, fluorescence, etc. of the reagent produced by permeating the liquid sample into the reagent layer and the component to be measured in the sample, are masured by using a spectrophotometer. The accuracy of the analysis is improved by clarifying the carrier layer and achieving the measurement by transmission of light.
