PURPOSE:To produce an optical wave circulator which realize multifrequency operation by coupling fiber lines at sharp angles to an optomagnetic cylindrical column (YIG cylindrical column). CONSTITUTION:A reflection film 12 is attached to one end of an iron yttirum garnet (YIG) cylindrical column 10, and coupling lines 11, 11', 11'' are spaced away at every 120 deg. within the same section and are joined at coupling length Lc at acute angles to the YIG cylindrical column 10. If a biasing external magnetic field of suitable magnitude is applied to this column, the incident light from the line 11 is divided to right and left rotating waves (+), (-), which invert at the center R of the reflecting mirror 12, join at the point Q2, and can be outputted to the coupling line 11' of #2. In a similar manner, the circulating operations such as #2 #3, #3 #1 are realized simultaneously.
