MELIA AZADIRACHTA EXTRACT HAVING ACTIVITY OF PREVENTING THE GROWTH OF MLIGNANT NEOPLASMA

NEW MATERIAL:An extract that is obtained by subjecting the barks of Melia azadirachta to extraction with an organic solent of less than 10 dielectric coefficient, extracting the extraction residue with a hydrophilic organic solvent of 15-35 dielectric coefficient, bringing the extract of lower alcohol solution into contact with a resin for nonpolar adsorption chromatography, treating the resin with 10% methanol and eluting with 30-50% methanol aqueous solution. USE:A malignant neoplasma blocking agent. PREPARATION:Benzene is added to fine pieces of dried barks of Melia azadirachta and extraction is effect by stirring them. Methanol is added to the extraction residue to effect extraction. The solvent is evaporated off from the extract and the resultant powder is dissolved in 10% methanol aqueous solution. The solution is mixed with an adsorption resin and the resultant resin is filled in a column. Then, 10% methanol aqueous solution is passed through the column and the adsorbates are eluted with 50% methanol aqueous solution. The solvent is removed from the eluate to give the novel extract.
