PURPOSE:To enhane the strength and heat resistance of a sintered body by adding a prescribed amount of a binder such as Ni, Co, Fe, Mo or Cr to M2B5 type boride to prepare starting material for sintering or by further adding =1 kind of compound such as metallic diboride, metallic monoboride or carbide. CONSTITUTION:Powder of M2B5 type boride such as W2B5 or Mo2B5 is mixed with 0.1-50wt% powder of a binder such as Ni, Co, Fe, Mo, Cr, W, Ti or Cu, or further mixed with powder of =1 kind of compound selected from metallic diboride, metallic monoboride, carbide, nitride, oxide and silicide. This mixture is put in a mold and sintered at a high temp. while applying a pressure. The resulting sintered cermet material has superior strength and heat resistance.
