ATTRACTANT FOR CIGARETTE BEETLE (LASIODERMA SERRICORNE FABRICIUS)

PURPOSE:The titled safe attractant, containing a perfume compound derived from plant component, e.g. solanoic acid, norsolanadione, 2-methtlvaleric acid, beta-damascone, etc. as an active constituent with no toxicity to men and cattle and environmental pollution, and having powerful attractance. CONSTITUTION:An attractant for a cigarette beetle (Lasioderma serricarne Fabricius) containing one of solanoic acid, norsolanadione, 2-methylvaleric acid, 3-methylvaleric acid, beta-damascone, methyl phenylacetate, megastigmatrienone and pelargonic acid, or a mixture of two or more thereof as an active constituent. The resultant attractant attracts the female oviferous imagoes of cigarette beetles (Lasioderma serricorne Fabricius). The compound is stable to physical effects, e.g. ultraviolet light and heat, and usable safely for a long term even in a room where men frequently go in and out.
