The flax stem tedder has an elevator gripping the stems following the pick-up. The elevator ends above a spiral vertical wall, along which an endless belt is guided. The belt can be guided by a lower driving pulley, a rear auxiliary one and a top rear one, bearing closely against the wall surface between the top rear pulley and a second bottom driven one. From the latter it passes to a front auxiliary pulley and a top front pulley and then to the bottom driving pulley. It bears against the spiral wall between the top front pulley and the bottom driving one.
