An agitator ball mill has a separator device such that a build-up of grinding bodies before the separator sieve is avoided and the entire sieve area is affected by the movement of grinding bodies and ground material. Replacement of the separator sieve is made possible without emptying of the grinding container. The separator device consists of a flat sieve 11 arranged parallel with the axis of the agitator shaft 9 at the highest point at the end of the grinding chamber 6 in a lid 3 serving as a sieve housing and covered by a collecting hood 18 for ground material.
