Solar heating swimming-pool cover - has sheet with float which inflates to trap layer of air above water surface

The cover for solar heating a swimming-pool comprises a perimeter which floats on the water and has a downwardly directed skirt extending from its inner edge and a flexible transparent central section which acts as a barrier to U.V. light but allows all other solar rays to pass. Air is introduced under the cover and is held captive in the space bounded by the transparent central section, the skirt and the water. The cover is inflated automatically using a pump which supplies air through a one-way valve into a pipe which discharges beneath the transparent central section.
